Since 2005, Grupo Lábaro has financed the campaign “Can I play”. Through this campaign, it participates in the collection of new and used toys in several areas in Spain, and charters a plane to take these to children in several Central American countries which have a high level of poverty. This is done so that no children are left without toys at Christmas time, as well as freely providing solidarity and generosity.
The idea of participating in this project arose from the initiative of the International Foundation O’Belén, which created the campaign in order to encourage the integral development of minors.
To play is a right recognised by the United Nations, and, so that the children might enjoy this right, the “Can I play?” campaign channels the generosity of Spanish society through the collection of toys for these children, who do not normally have toys due to their social or family situations.
The campaign, which in the three previous editions managed to make children from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador happy, intends to encourage and promote the altruism of the individual donors in order to inculcate this value in Spanish children and vindicate the importance of play as a fundamental right of children.
